Adriana Lima Diet: 1,000 Calories a Day Nonsense
There are two components of the Adriana Lima diet, and both are scary. The first component is what the leggy model does to prepare for a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, namely the 2011 show. The second component is how the supermodel normally eats.
The Adriana Lima diet pre-show really kicks in full force nine days leading in; the model avoids eating solid food. The only good time someone should avoid solid food is either when they’re an infant or just had their wisdom teeth removed or something like that.
The 9-Day Adriana Lima Diet Preparation for the Victoria’s Secret Show
The Brazilian model drinks up protein shakes and a gallon of water a day. What a yummy way to live. Oh, of course this is a walk in the park if the reward is getting rich modeling at a VS show, but…come on, is it really necessary to suffer this way for nine straight days to look good in lingerie? NO.
Twelve hours before the VS show she consumes NOTHING. Not even half a celery stick. This is insane. But she looks great at the show, right?
Well, I never said that feeding like an infant for nine days will cause visible damage. But hell, it has to be, well, HELL. Adriana Lima has stated, “No liquids at all so you dry out; sometimes you can lose up to eight pounds just from that.”
Okay, a nine-day starvation plan once a year won’t hurt anyone other than being hungry all the time, but there’s no reason to go to any extremes to maintain a lean and curvy Victoria’s Secret body.
Adriana Lima Diet the Rest of the Year
It sucks. This poor woman thinks she must stick to about 1,000 to 1,300 calories a day to be lean and sexy looking.
She also exercises, so I can’t believe that her metabolism is SO slow that, despite the regular exercise, she must eat like a damn bird to rock a classic VS body.
If the Adriana Lima diet adds calories, will the supermodel get plumpo? Nope. If she went up to 1,600 calories a day, like Giselle Bundchen, her metabolism would also go up.
Severe calorie restriction (I don’t mean starvation like a true anorexic) slows down metabolism. Adriana Lima has taught her body to hold tightly to every calorie.
Adriana Lima Diet Typical Daily Menu
Breakfast: oatmeal and raisins, or muesli plus plain yogurt and honey; egg whites; cup of joe and milk.
Lunch: One serving of meat or poultry or fish, with vegetables.
Snacks consist of raw vegetables like carrots and cucumbers. She enjoys chocolate (presumably a few Hershey kisses or a few squares of chocolate; certainly not a slice of chocolate cake from the Cheesecake Factory). Throw in a daily spoonful of raw honey.
Dinner: a small salad. No joke.
It’s a wonder that this model has the energy to strut her stuff. The Adriana Lima diet is no way to live, and if a woman knows the basics about nutrition, metabolism and how the body uses energy, she’ll know she doesn’t have to eat like a sparrow to be a size 4.
