Bodybuilding & Fitness Strategies – The Good, The Bad & The Ugly!
The Good, The Bad And The Ugly bodybuilding and fitness strategies. I’ve been through them all. The bad and the really ugly I used day in and day out when I was brainwashed by fellow gymrats, the bodybuilding magazines and supplement companies. Yes I have been there to. It’s not a fun world to be in – this I can see now. Especially since I have found a set of bodybuilding and fitness strategies – the good – that goes against what these money machines want to press down your throat. If you can relate to these hyped and faulty bodybuilding and fitness strategies I urge you to rethink your approach.
As you will realize these bodybuilding and fitness strategies makes your quest for muscle and might more difficult and complicated than it has to be. You don’t have to be a slave to your lifestyle to be strong and have a lean muscular body.

At times I felt like a clown ready to explode with the traditional bodybuilding and fitness strategies
Bodybuilding and fitness strategies – The bad
• I had 6-7 small meals everyday 365 days a year. Terrible things would happen if I missed a meal. Horrible stuff like the dreaded “starvation mode” that would result in me becoming a fat slob and my hard earned muscles would catabolize itself so fast that I would be called stick boy the next day. When I was preparing for contests these meals were super small since I had to keep my calories restricted in order to keep a calorie deficit leaving me hungry and never feeling satiated. I never missed a meal during many years. I was known as the Tupperware guy because I had my small meals with me everywhere I went. So I became a slave to my eating schedule.
• I used nutrient timing before and after each weight training workout. Everybody knows about the windows of opportunity. If you don’t get your scientific hydrolyzed whey protein with fast acting dextrose carbs your dooooomed to a life in misery and your workouts will be a complete waste. So i was told by the supplement companies and my brainwashed gym buddies. I usually had bananas and raisins or dextrose with whey protein and creatine pre and post workout clearly measured out in seperate shaker bottles. What a hustle to carry all this with me.
• I tried every supplement I could get my hands on. Always wondering why they didn’t have the same effect on me like the monsters that advertised them. I believed and trusted everything I read. The glossy adds with all the hightech phrases and monstrous men were so convincing. How could they not be the answer to all my bodybuilding dreams?
Bodybuilding and fitness strategies – The really ugly
• I adhered to the bulk and cut strategy since this was the only way I could gain muscle – I was told. So I accepted being an out of shape “offseason” fart covered up in baggy clothe for most of the time and hating the way I looked. All I ever wanted was to keep the low body fat levels year round. But as everybody knows this is impossible if you want to gain any amount of muscle. So I bulked up – then cutted down – repeat. Having two seperate wardropes. One for the smooth me and one for the trimmed and good looking me.
• I abused cardio when it was time to shred the fat gained in the bulking phases leaving me hungry, depleted, drained, stringy and hating my training. But as everybody knows when it’s time for cutting off all the fat gained in the bulking phase you have to do cardiovasular training. I never questioned this. I just did like everybody else.
• I blasted my arms with zillions of exercises, sets, reps and intensity prolonging techniques in a desperate attempt to make them grow. I kept blasting away resulting in tendonitis in my elbows and no growth to show for this. Looking back I just shake my head because of this nonsense and stupidity. Many years and hurting elbows had to go by before I questioned this idiotic approach.
• I adhered to my 5 day split like clockwork. Never missing a day – saying no to many social gatherings with friends and family. Split routines were the only correct training style for bodybuilding – all the pro bodybuilders used them. And everybody knows that they are the guys to go to for training advice. They just never told me about the one thing I didn’t do that got their training style to work. I think you can figure this vital missing ingredient out yourself.
• I never took time off – only losers quit and no pain no gain were my mentality. When I was unmotivated and my body clearly told me to back off I kept going. As Arnold showed us in his famous Bodybuidling “bible” 2 times a day and 6 days a week is the way to go. So I thought that I just wasn’t trying hard enough.
• I never believed that genetics were the overall determinator of my potential. Only that I hadn’t found the “secret” routine yet. So I hammered away for years trying all kinds of shitty routines never accepting that my body was more suited to be a bikerider than a pro bodybuilder.
I go indepth on some of these mistakes and why they were responsible for my lack of gains in my new free eBook you can get here.

Bodybuilding and fitness strategies – The good:
• I eat 3 big meals a day. Sometimes two, sometimes 4. I don’t freak out if I miss a meal. I just eat more at the next meal. I’m never hungry and I’m satiated after each meal. And I learned that the “starvation mode” myth is just that – a myth unless you do really stupid shit over a long period of time. You will lose fat and build muscle just as efficiently with a low meal frequenzy as you would eating 6 or more times a day.
• I no longer have a suitcase of Tupperware with me when I go out. My diet supports my lifestyle – not controlling it.
• I don’t eat breakfast and as a result of that I’m more productive and have much more energy. But the breakfast and supplement companies want to hide that “secret” at all cost.
• I don’t waste calories or money on post workout sugar drinks or overhyped worthless supplements. I just eat my regular healthy whole food meal when I feel like it. Not a single gram of muscle lost because of this. Instead my wallet is getting fatter.
• I never go on a traditional bulking and cutting cycle. I stay in razor sharp condition year round. And keep getting stronger.
• I hardly do any time wasting boring cardio yet I remain in top condition with very low body fat. Actually I maintain this condition with such ease that I wonder why I have spend so many hours on the step machine boring myself to death to burn a tidy bit of calories and feeling like hell in the process.
• I now do full body workouts skipping or moving a workout if something comes up. The more time off has resulted in more energy and more strength. And a happier me that no longer is held hostage to a strict split routine.
• I focus on free weight exercise like, deadlifts, squats, pullups, shoulder presses and stay away from isolation exercises and haven’t lost a fraction of an inch on my genetic poorly proportioned arms. And my elbows have stopped yelling at me.
• I have stopped training for the pump and feeling the burn. Stopped applying the bodybuilding techniques from bodybuilding magazines and pro bodybuilders books and videos – and I haven’t lost muscle. Actually I’m stronger than ever and in the best shape of my life – at 40.
Don’t pump iron – become iron! (Tweet Me)
• I take time off when my body says it have had enough. Actually I plan it into my cycles – something I would have never done just years ago.
• I now accept that I have taking my body as far as my genetics allow and further gains come very very slowly and can’t be forced with “special secret” techniques that only Mr. Olympia knows about. The only secret he knows is the one that actually is a “secret” he never tells everyone. I can only imagine why.
Don’t become this. You can get in outstanding shape without becoming a stupid selfcentered fuck in the process. Hard to believe this was me years ago. Is this you?
By taking my training and nutrition up for revision, analyzing my training journal, abandoning the bodybuilding comics, observing others in the gym and using common sense I now have a set of bodybuilding and fitness strategies that deliver results without turning me into a slave of my lifestyle.
