You CAN have your cake and eat it too for successful fat loss without feeling guilt.

There’s nothing I enjoy more than going to an “All You Can Eat Buffet” and eat till I’m about to burst followed by a trip to the movies with a big bag of candy. But I know that this is not the best approach if you want to look fit. So I should feel some guilt associated with this.

Sounds familiar?

But the fact is that I don’t feel any guilt over this. I make this “cheat meal” work in my favor instead of against me. How is this possible?

Most diet plans are so restrictive that only die hard fitness or health freaks can sustain such a diet in the long run. Many people that want to lose weight start out with the best intensions and pick restrictive plans that sounds good and have big promises attached to them.

This approach will almost always fail. These diets are not designed for normal people with normal lives.

So what will happen to people that follow these lousy diet plans is that the majority will sooner or later binge on the diet and then feel enormous guilt afterwards. Many never resume the diet plan because of the feeling they get when they blow the plan.

“Hmm – I blow the plan – now the whole thing can just go to hell”

It doesn’t have to be like this though.

Imagine if you didn’t have to feel guilt about eating your favorite foods. Actually, incorporating regular days in your fat loss diet where you can enjoy your favorite foods will make your chances of success skyrocket.

How is this possible you may ask? How is it possible to eat junk food and lose weight?

How to eat junk food and lose weight is the flexible approach to dieting

When you select a diet plan, you need to take a good hard look at it, before jumping in. For long term success you need a flexible diet that allows the following:

1) Making social gatherings possible.

How many times have you said no to a party or felt guilty when eating the food that was served because you were on a strict diet? By incorporating days or meals where foods that is not part of the plan are permitted you can easily plan these days to coincide with social gatherings.

2) Making it possible to enjoy your favorite foods without feeling guilt.

I’m positive that every person that has ever been on a fat loss diet is guilty of this. After a good string of good healthy eating days where you have followed the plan to the latter, something have come up that made it impossible not to eat foods that were not present in the plan. Or simple just binged. How was the feeling afterwards? Guilt right? When cheat days or cheat meals are a part of the plan you will easily get around this feeling. Now the “forbidden” foods work in your favor. Not against you.

3) Enjoying your favorite foods – Eating is one of the greatest pleasures in life.

Depriving yourself of the foods that you love the most is not a life. I could not imagine going through my entire life without ever having to enjoy my mom’s delicious meals when I’m at home visiting. Or a bag of my favorite candy to a movie. And we don’t have to – not even when we want to lose body fat.

4) A steady loss of body fat.

Instead of losing a lot of pounds over a few days and weeks – binge – then regaining all that was lost and never returning to the diet again, the cheat day/meal strategy will result in slower and steady loss of body fat. But its far more sustainable and your chances of sticking to your diet all the way through will be that much higher. Heck, when you indulge in your favorite foods regularly you won’t even feel like you are dieting.

5) Easy transitioning into maintenance once your goal weight or body composition is reached.

If you have the stamina and the willpower to follow one of those torturous diets all the way to your end goal, another challenge arrives. Because of the absence of all the forbidden foods, many will celebrate with a junk food feast – That doesn’t stop! All the lost body fat will quickly return if you just let go.

And many do because of the long absence of the forbidden foods. When you have enjoyed these “forbidden” foods during the whole diet period, you won’t have the same abstinences for them, making the transition period feeling a lot more natural.

Please pay attention to this: I don’t encourage people to build their diets around junk food. Always structure your eating habits to support your health and well being. But far too many diet and weight loss plans are far to strict and monotonous for any human being to continue on for a longer period of time.

How to eat junk food and lose weight challenges

Of course there are challenges with this approach. You should for example pay attention if you can’t return to your normal healthy way of eating after a cheat meal. In my experience this is more a psychological reason than a physical. The guilt after eating junk makes many people give up on the whole deal.

This do take some time to master. Not feeling guilt about eating “unhealthy” foods.

But if eating junk is part of the plan it’s not “cheating”, and suddenly you turn it to your advantage. Now you have something to look forward to and you won’t feel deprived. Still you need some discipline not to overdo it just because you can.

How to eat junk food and lose weight – do it yourself

Not even when I go for a peak with ultra low body fat percentage do I skip on my favorite foods. I enjoy them regularly all the way to the finish line. My normal routine is to schedule a cheat day on Saturdays and I encourage you to do the same. Pick one day a week and start from there. In my “Complete Body Transformation Blueprint” I go into much more details about this approach. Get it for free below this post.

This is how I structure my successful eating plans for my personal training clients, but other fitness authorities are proponents of this approach to, like Joel Marion, and have far higher success rates than the useless insane diets that sounds good and make outrageous promises, but fail so many people.
