Cheap Weight Lifting Supplements: Save BIG – Do It Yourself

“Cheap weight lifting supplements – Where do I buy them?” That’s one of the most common questions I’m asked, followed by “Do I REALLY need weight lifting supplements to build muscle and burn body fat?”

Those that know my work understand that I have a real “love-hate” relationship with supplements. You can achieve great results without them, however the right weight lifting supplements for you can make a great program even better.

Don't stuff your head with all kinds of exotic supplements - Find the right ones for YOU!

Weight lifting supplements – A big pile of bogus

Most weight lifting supplements are overhyped, overpriced and sold on faulty promises and pumped with scientific jargon. It’s easy to get sucked in to the hype when you have no idea about what it actually means. If it sounds good, it must be good, right?

A recent review of the slick marketing tactics used by supplements companies revealed some pretty scary tricks that may have tricked you to buy in the past. Take a look at these dirty tricks – when you can see through the bogus you make sure that you are never scammed again.

Weight lifting supplements scam #1: Proprietary blends
If the ingredient label on a supplement says “patent-pending” or “proprietary blend”, don’t buy it unless you know what is included in this patent! Supplement companies can combine any simple compounds (whether they work or not) and submit them for a patent. Sounds “official”…but it’s usually bogus!

Weight lifting supplements scam #2: “Pixie Dust”
Most supplements list “proven” active ingredients on their labels that CAN help you build more muscle and burn fat. Unfortunately, most of them contain so LITTLE of the actual ingredient that they will literally have NO EFFECT on your body unless you take expensive MEGA-DOSES! Usually the language that’s used in these weight lifting supplements is something like, “…contains an ingredient proven to blah, blah, blah…”

Weight lifting supplements scam #3: Scientific Jargon
We’re conditioned to accept medicines as having a powerful effect on our body. That’s why supplement companies will use the Latin or scientific name for a compound on the ingredients label to jack up the price for something that costs just pennies to produce.

Not all is bad in supplements industry though

The fact is, there ARE some great weight lifting supplements that can get you faster results when combined with a sound training and nutrition program!

The secret is to know…

  • Which ones actually WORK
  • Which one are the right for you and your particular goal
  • The DOSAGE that actually works
  • And how to buy them WITHOUT going broke! (Read on - discover how you can save up to 98% on weight lifting supplements)

Supplementation AREN’T about picking up a bottle of fancy-schmancy, hyped up glamour pills and expecting fantastic results. But thanks to hyped up marketing of the “power” of supplements to magically build muscle and blast away body fat, the average consumer’s mind has been programmed that the path to a better body lies in the form of the latest cutting edge “breakthrough” supplement.

When frustration after frustration takes its toll on the high expectations of seeing some significant results like those of the steroid-fueled pro that graced the supplement ad (see video below), it’s no wonder guys turn to dangerous steroids and other cocktails in an effort to achieve super-human bodies.

This should get you to think twice before jumping straight into deep waters with the latest “cutting edge” wonder supplement. [Watch video]

A clip from the movie: Bigger – Stronger – Faster. A highly recommended movie.

In the end, realizing that it takes hard work on a consistent basis, will get you to your goals. Support your efforts with a soundly developed core supplement program, instead of relying on steroids and other drugs to build your physique or burn away body fat, will serve you MUCH better in the long run.

A solid supplementation plan

Step 1: Determine Your Starting Point And End Goal
A proper supplement program begins with the end result in mind. From there it’s all backwards planning. For example, if your primary objective is to add lean muscle, you should put a higher priority on supplements designed for muscle building rather than burning fat. If getting “ripped and shredded” is your priority, the weight liftting supplements you’ll need to reach your goals will be different. Pretty simple, right?

Step 2: The foundation
Like in training and nutrition there are some foundational supplements that should be in order before exploring the more exotic weight lifting supplements. I don’t even consider these to be in the supplement group because they are basically just food. However, they make life a little easier, and make sure that you are getting all the nutrients your body needs.

The supplement foundation should be build around Omega 3’s (essential fatty acids), vitamins and minerals and basic protein supplements.

Step 3: Supplements to enhance your results
Now that you have a solid foundation in place, it’s time to experiment with supplements that are more focused on your personal body type, lifestyle, and fitness goals. For simplification, I’ve divided the supplements into 6 separate categories based upon the goal of their PRIMARY ingredients and the desired results on the body:

Supplement Category: Mass Builder
Supplement Goal: Stimulate the growth of muscle mass for those who have a hard time gaining weight.

Supplement Category: Fat Burner
Supplement Goal: Increase the body’s metabolism to stimulate the breakdown and use of body fat for fuel to lose weight.

Supplement Category: Pre-Workout
Supplement Goal: Prime the body for intense workouts, enhanced energy, faster recovery of damaged muscle fibers, stimulate hormone release, and increase cell volume.

Supplement Category: Post-Workout
Supplement Goal: Facilitate the body’s ability to recover from intense training sessions, stimulating muscle repair and growth, energy regeneration and hormone regulation.

Supplement Category: Hormone Booster
Supplement Goal: Increase the body’s natural hormone release for activation of lean muscle growth, enhanced sex drive, and increased fat-burning.

Supplement Category: Energy Aid/Performance
Supplement Goal: Increase your endurance, speed, and power while providing the body with the nutrients needed to maximize training intensity.

Cheap weight lifting supplements – DO IT YOURSELF

The weight lifting supplements you pick, when you use them, how long you use them and the amounts you ingest will all influence the effectiveness of your program, and all of that will impact your financial justifications as well. If you have searched online or been to a supplement store you know how expensive supplements really are. And usually the weight lifting supplements in this group are not guaranteed to deliver results. A tight budget can make it difficult to put together a successful supplement strategy. Not to mention, stay on it long enough to see results. And you actually don’t know if you are just wasting your money.

Have you ever thought about making them yourself?

It’s actually pretty easy. Don’t’ be fooled by the shiny bottles and tubs with nice images of models (Remember the video from above). They are no better because of the “package” than if you make them yourself. And oftentimes the supplements you make at home are far better than the commercial ones. Just save your old bottles and tubs – Now you have your own quality weight lifting supplements in a nice package – how cool is that
